~ School Wellbeing Cards by Dr Jerricah Holder ~
This month, we’d like to share the School Wellbeing Cards by Dr Jerricah Holder. These are a simple but effective tool we use to help children talk about how they are feeling and what they might need support with.
The cards include short statements, and children are encouraged to decide whether each one feels “true about me” or “not true about me.” This helps them to reflect on their emotions, build self-awareness, and feel heard in a safe and supportive way.
Using these cards helps us to better understand each child and tailor our sessions to support their wellbeing and development.

After using cards with a child, we look closely at the statements they have identified as “true about me” and “not true about me” to help us understand their needs. We then focus on any key themes that come up, such as friendships, emotions, confidence, or behaviour, and choose one or two areas to work on at a time. In our sessions, we use activities such as games, discussions, role-play, or calming strategies to support these areas, always linking back to what the child has shared. We also revisit the cards over time to see what has changed and to celebrate any progress, helping the child to build confidence and self-awareness.
