This week we caught up with the TAs that we have been working with throughout this academic year. We love it when we get to see them again and we get the opportunity to hear how things are going for them and offer them advice and support if needed.
The focus for our session this week was looking at ‘social skills’ we decided to make the session practical for everyone so we shared with them examples of different social skills activities that can be completed in groups and with the whole class. We all moved around the room a lot, listened to each other and most importantly we laughed together.
We aimed to develop their knowledge of using ‘circle time’ effectively to offer the children they are supporting with opportunities to learn how to listen, interact, speak, watch, and participate.
The group of TAs were such good sports as they joined in with the games, the rounds and the main focused session, it was lovely to see the group working together and we could really see how they were developing their relationships within the group.
They were brilliant at following our circle time rules – we can’t wait to hear how they have transferred what they learnt this week into their class when we meet again in March.
