We all need people in our lives that are by our side through the good times and the bad. Finding our way through life can be complicated at times but is made easier when we have someone to navigate it with. Claire and I took a leap of faiththree years ago to set up Reach and work independently – it was scary, and a huge risk that took us out of our comfort zone, but we had each other and so we knew it would be ok. Looking back over the three years, we have had fun and have enjoyed the variety our work brings. There have been tough days, but we have always got each other’s backs. I am writing this on Claire’s birthday, so ‘Happy Birthday’ to the best business partner and friend.

This week, we made our last visit to the Year 7s that we have been supporting with their transition to high school from Year 6. We asked what advice they would give to this year’s Year 6 cohort, and they gave thoughtful and insightful advice for us to pass on. So much of the advice was about friendships and encouraging them to take up new opportunities offered in order to meet new people, it was also about trusting the staff at the school to help them if they needed it. Both are suchgood advice – making good friends and finding those you can trust enough to ask for help when it is needed are two of the most important things we need in life.
