Welcome back to all of you – we hope you have had a fun time in the holidays and also managed to get some rest. We are looking forward to working with you in your schools again this term.
I always find it particularly difficult to get up early and get back into the daily routine of work in January. I love the work I do, I love working with the staff and the children, but it is that morning ‘get up’ that is difficult. The dark, cold (freezing this week) mornings do not help, and neither do the evenings when I feel I should be in my pjs under a blanket as soon as the sun goes down. So, to make myself feel better, I checked to see how long the dark mornings and dark afternoons will be with us and it did make me smile. In 6 weeks (February half term) the sun will rise at about 7.15am and, even better in my opinion, the sun will set between 5.20 and 5.30pm and it will get dark at about 6.25pm. That instantly makes me feel better and I hope that thought helps some of you too.
Have a good start to the term – I know many of you will have set new targets for yourself, but I think if we all try to be kinder and more thoughtful to others, we will all have a brighter 2026.
