Children in Need 2025

As most of you who work in schools will know it is Children in Need time again – the theme for this year is ‘Challenge Yourself to 25’.  We have been encouraged to take on a challenge involving the number 25 – walking, baking, cycling, singing, dancing – really anything goes.  Choose your challenge and complete it 25 times.  We have been in schools, and it is exciting to see how creative and inventive the fundraising events are.

The Radio Two team always choose one of their presenters and give them a seemingly impossible challenge; this year, it is Sara Cox that will be representing the team.  She is undertaking the Great Northern Marathon Challenge, which is a five day, 135-mile run across four counties – Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire (how does she even do that? – what a star she is).  It is amazing what individuals will do to raise money for such a worthy cause.  Enjoy watching the fund-raising show on Friday 14th November on BBC1.

In addition to Children in Need, this week has also been Anti-Bullying week in schools.  The theme has been ‘Power for Good’ which encourages children to speak up and help others who are being bullied.  Bullying in childhood is something that often follows a person through into their adulthood, and the experiences are often something that never leaves you.  It is so important to have friends prepared to help you by speaking up and this week has been about teaching children how to do this.  The week started with odd sock day on Monday 10th (my son only ever wears odd socks, so it’s the one day of the year when he fits in!)
