~ The Zones of Regulation ~
This month our resource of the month is a tool for teaching the children regulation strategies to help them to focus, calm, think, move, breathe and to connect.
These cards are to be used in conjunction with ‘The Zones of Regulation’ (Kuypers 2011), where Zone tools are introduced and explored.
The cards are divided into five categories to show the different ways tools can help us.

FEEL IT – These tools use our senses to support regulation and modulation.
MOVE IT – These tools integrate physical activity to impact regulation.
THINK IT – These tools provide thought-based strategies to help us regulate.
DO IT – Task and goal-oriented tools involve taking action
CONNECT – Co-regulation tools are empathy, thinking of others, and accessing relationships for support.
We use these cards a lot with the children we work with as it helps them to consider which tool they feel will help them to regulate when in their zones.
