~ Visual Timetables~
Visual timetables in a classroom are so important for so many children and many children will rely on these even if you think they don’t.

I once completed an observation on a little girl who used the timetable of the day to support her, it helped her to feel safe and secure and it gave her predictability for the day.
The timetable wasn’t quite right that morning as understandably things were very busy that morning in that classroom and often other things can take over. During my observation this little girl spent the first part of the morning putting the timetable right. Classrooms are busy so it is a good idea to make this a job for a child, it also gives them a movement break too.
Alongside this, some children like a ‘now and next’ board as the whole day can be overwhelming for them, there are lots of different boards that you can use, we like to make them bespoke for each child as every child is different.
Whatever you decide to use, remember to share it with home as we also support many families that implement these strategies at home too.
