This week we held another of our ECT cluster meetings, we love catching up with our ECTs. We love hearing how things are going for them whilst also offering support for any of the challenges that they are facing. We had a focus on developing circle time in the primary classroom within the meeting; it was a practical session, and we wanted everyone to leave the session with something that they could implement in the classroom.
“Children love Circle Time, Circle Time brings just the right blend of structure, enjoyment and learning!” (Jenny Mosley Consultancies).
Circle Time offers opportunities for children and young people to learn how to listen, interact, speak, watch, and participate. It gives a framework and a structure to staff to help deal with issues that affect the whole learning community. It promotes better relationships. It helps to develop emotional literacy skills and supports children to show empathy and understanding to their peers. It helps develop positive social interaction and interpersonal skills within the group. It helps support positive behaviour management which, in turn, contributes to a positive ethos within the class.

We are now looking forward to seeing all our ECTs in May when we get a full day with them delivering further training and also finding out what they are going to be up to next academic year.
