~ The Huge Bag of Worries by Virginia Ironside ~

The Huge Bag of Worries tells the story of a little girl who carries around a huge bag filled with worries. Wherever Jenny goes, her worries follow her. The worries are there when she goes swimming, when she is watching TV and even when she goes to the toilet.

In the story the worries are represented by little monsters that Jenny carries around in her big blue bag; no matter what Jenny tries, throwing the bag away, locking it out, it always comes back.

There is so much you can do with this book to start to talk about worries with children.  We all have worries; some are small and some really do weigh us down. We often use this story as a way of starting work with children on dealing with their worries and we then work with the child on finding a way of helping them to deal with their worries. Every child is different and how we support them varies, it is all about finding what works for each individual child.
