November is such a busy time in schools and this week is particularly so: starting with Remembrance Day on the 11th, anti-bullying week from the 11th-15th and ending with Children in Need on the 15th.

There are so many children who suffer (some in silence) and need help to speak up or to support a friend. There are many resources available to help schools and this year the theme is to empower children to choose respect and kindness. Helping children to feel safe and to let them know they will be listened to is key to them talking about bullying openly. Online or face to face bullying can have devastating effects.
Odd Sock Day on Tuesday this week is an easy, visual way to get the message across, and there were some bright, fun socks on show in schools we visited. Remember – be kind always.
This week ends with Children in Need who have a spotty theme this year.

So many creative spotty ideas where children in schools have fun. Some difficult challenges all over the country, including Paddy McGuiness who is travelling 300 miles on a Raleigh Chopper – who does that? The inspiration for all the challenges and all the fun is to raise money for charities who help children in the UK. Last year, £33.5 million was raised – I’m sure that can be achieved again. Have fun!
