As we start the longest half term of the year for many of us, it is important to remember this sentiment written by Charlie Mackesy – we need to be kind to ourselves.
This half term is fun with Halloween, Bonfire night, Children in Need, and, of course, the lead-up to Christmas. However, alongside the fun, there comes disruption to our daily routines – impromptu singing practice, arts and crafts sessions and visitors to school, to name but a few.
There are darker evenings and less opportunity for children to play outside after school. Wet plays mean children do not get to always run off excess energy outside and this can result in grumpiness from some.
We all get tired as the weeks go by, and this term involves organising Christmas activities for the children in school and for (for those who celebrate it) our own families. It can be exhausting and overwhelming so ….. remember to take some deep breaths, slow everything down and keep as calm as you can. Be kind to yourself.
Take time to think each day about the things you have achieved and try not to focus on the long list of jobs that you have not managed to get through.
