Back in September, Sue and I did TA training for a day with an amazing group of TAs. We have then followed the training up by meeting with the group each half term for an afternoon session where we have a taken a different focus for each session (this has been planned with the TAs attending the course).
Then this week we have had a full day together where we looked at further developing the role of the TA, we visited and explored in more depth the idea that behaviour is communication, we also looked at the complex needs of some children within the primary classroom and how their needs impact on behaviour and most importantly we reminded them that they can make a difference.

We had a lovely day as we have all got to know each other so well during the academic year, it was lovely to see how the group have grown in confidence and how they have really developed their understanding of behaviour in the classroom, some of them even commented that it has helped them in the way they manage their own children at home.
We ended the day with a circle time session, we laughed but it was also emotional to hear the group talk about how much they have got out of the training during the year and how they have enjoyed implementing some of our suggestions.
We have our final session with them all in July, we can’t wait to see them again!! What an amazing group of TAs.
