They say time flies when you are having fun and that is what happened when we met up with our lovely ECT group at the start of the week.
Before Easter we had a session with the group where we looked at emotional baggage/additional needs and how they can impact on a child’s behaviour and ability to focus and learn, the session was quite theory based so we wanted to make the next session more practical.
We could not believe where the time went as we discussed practical ways of supporting children in school. We also looked at de-escalation, relationships, classroom strategies, emotional literacy, emotional regulation, and social skills. We answered questions that had arisen over the two training sessions that we have delivered to the wonderful group of ECTs.
We also talked about planning for September. What worked well this year? What did not go so well and what will be implemented next year?
It is so lovely to meet new teachers as they start their career and listen to their passion about how they want to do their very best to support the children in their schools. It will be lovely to catch up with them again soon so we can hear how some of the shared strategies are going.
