Today is Comic Relief 2024 and many of you will have taken part in fundraising activities for children facing poverty in the UK and around the world. From the red noses, to the dressing up, to the challenges, it is always a fun day for many in schools and then there is the live show to watch in the evening.
Comic Relief started in 1985 and was co-founded by Sir Lenny Henry; nearly 40 years later and this will be the last live show that he will host. What an achievement – 40 years of raising more than £1.5 billion to help vulnerable children who need it most. Schools have been integral to the success of the fund raising and should also be proud of this.

This year there will be four different nose designs: Gigglesworth, McChortles, Smirklethorpe, LOL E Pops and a fifth ultra-rare golden nose called The Golden Hooter which people will have a 1 in 166 chance to find. Please let us know if any of you or your children find one of the rare noses.
The day is great fun for many and it gives children the chance to help others through fun activities. It is also important that children understand what the money is being raised for, so explaining about previous and future projects funded by Comic Relief is a crucial part of the day.
It is also important to remember that, for some children they do not like changes in their routine and will struggle with a disrupted timetable and different clothes. Ensure these children are supported and helped throughout the day.
MOSTLY – WE HOPE YOU HAVE FUN!
