Coming back to work after the holidays means the start of a new term and the beginning of a new year.
At new year so many of us make resolutions that we aim to use to guide us throughout the year but so many of us start the year by failing to stick to them.
Lucy Claire (lucyclaireillustration on Instagram) posted some simple, but beautiful and achievable goals – what a different world we would be living in if these were the focus for us all.

Smile more
I love this as smiling always makes us feel better – do it now as you are reading this. Try walking down the street and smiling at people you pass – 9 times out of 10 people smile back.
Be proud of myself
End every day by thinking about something good that happened in the day, something that you are proud of. Make it the last conversation with your children at bedtime each day – ‘What did you do today that made you feel proud?’ Focus on the positives (no matter how small).
Accept help
It shows strength to ask for and to accept help. No one knows everything, and there is always someone who knows more than you. See it as a strength and not a weakness to ask someone to help if you need it.
Love more
ourselves, our families, and our friends – nature, our jobs, our pets. Live in the moment and enjoy what is happening. Life is short so cherish those small moments.
Let it go
Do not let things eat away at you. Talk about worries – deal with them and then leave them behind or get help if you need it. Holding a grudge and feeling angry will wear you down over time.
Prioritise rest
You can only give your best to others if you are feeling calm and rested. Life is busy and hectic – make sure you make time to rest and relax when you can. Slow things down, even for just a short time each day.
Take care of myself
Do what you love. Whatever that might be: sport, walking your dog, painting, meeting up with friends, spending time with family, time away, gardening, going to the cinema/theatre….
HAVE A GREAT HALF TERM!
