We hope you are all having a good term. It is magical being in schools at this time of year, but it is also tiring, and it can be overwhelming. It is such a long term and, at the moment, many staff and children are running on low batteries.
We have both been in schools at Christmas time for many years, but this has definitely been one of the hardest. We have been talking to Headteachers and staff who are finding it tough at the moment. We could talk for hours about the reasons behind these feelings, but I am going to try to keep being positive. When times are tough, try to think back to why you chose to do this job. It is an amazing job that is so rewarding, and that is what we all need to hold onto. We help children to achieve their best – what an honour that is. When times are tough – remember to keep the children at the heart of everything.
We have had conversations with Headteachers who are worried about their staff because of the pressures at the moment. Just remember what an amazing team you in your school all are – keep talking and looking out for each other. Check-in and remember to keep laughing. Think of all the wonderful things the children have achieved, with your help and guidance. Be proud.
