TA Training

Today we delivered training to a brilliant group of TAs.

Being a TA in a school is such an important job and it can be so rewarding; building positive relationships with the children and the staff can be wonderful.  However, it can also be lonely:  if you have been asked to support the child in school who gets angry, bites, hits kicks, screams and shouts and you are with that child all day every day ….. it can be hard.  School days are busy and there is always so much to do – ideally, we all need to try to de-brief and have a calm time at the end of our days.

We worked with a great group of TAs today some who are new to the job, and some who have been in the role for a while.  We are going to meet them regularly throughout this year and have another full day planned in May.  We have been looking at why children behave as they do and what we can do to help them be successful and happy in school.

We had a lovely day – laughter always helps and we laughed lots as a group. We shared resources, dealt with technology issues (which were sorted out by Ross and Tori – thank you so much), we threw wool in a circle time session, and we had a whole hour for lunch! We shared experiences and hopefully this is just the beginning. Thank you to everyone who attended, and we look forward to seeing you again very soon.

We were joined on our training by Alfie and Lilly and, for the first time, we were also joined by Sam (thank you to Sue Mulkern for making him for us – he was the star of our show). Our Muddle Monster also came along for the day and will hopefully now show up in local schools to support more children.
