DG6 Conference

Firstly, we would like to start by saying a massive thank you to everyone that attended the District 6 conference today at Brockholes Nature reserve. We were delighted to be invited and to be asked to lead a workshop so we could provide you with an insight into provision and support for the Preston schools as we move forward with our new and exciting adventure – Reach. It was lovely to see so many friendly faces and to receive such positive feedback from so many of our schools. I think our favourite quote of the day was ‘When I see you two, I just smile, and I know you are going to help me’.

The conference was a great way of bringing the Preston school community together; we got to listen to the key speaker, Graham Chatterley, who spoke about changing perceptions, de-escalation, and regulation techniques. I think we could have all listened to him all day. We also listened to Andrea Gray who talked about school safeguarding, staff supervision and well-being. This really struck a chord with me personally as I have been fortunate enough to have supervision from Andrea’s team and it really did have a positive and lasting impact on me.

During the conference today we shared with you all how Reach will be offering bespoke support; we want to work with schools and staff so we can ‘reach’ as many children as possible, the support we offer will be tailored towards your school and the needs of your pupils as no two cases are the same!

Hopefully, we clarified for everyone how Reach will be working moving forward.  We are looking forward to working in collaboration with the Inclusion Hub to support the children, families, and schools in the Preston area.

We look forward to our next conference with District 7 on March 30th where we will clarify how we will be working with all our South Ribble schools.

Thank you again to the Inclusion Hubs and the school staff for your continued positive feedback and support, it really does mean the world to us both.
